KATHMANDU: Nepal lost their second World T20 Qualifiers practice
match against the United Arab Emirates by 20 runs as per the D/L Method at Stormont of Belfast on Tuesday.
The United Arab Emirates had gone to the crease with the 85-run target in 18 overs. In reply, they made 81/2 in 14 overs when rain interrupted the match. This called for the announcement of result according to the D/L Method.
Nepal had made 84/7 in 18 overs.
Nepal’s first practice match against Oman, prior to the ICC World T20 Qualifiers, had ended with no result yesterday, thanks to rainfall.
Faizan Asif made 24 off 21, while Amjad Ali and Umar Ali contributed unbeaten 23 and 16 respectively for their team. Also, Mohammad Shazad made 13 runs.
Jitendra Mukhiya and Sagar Pun claimed one wicket each.
Nepal are in Ireland to participate in the ICC World T20 Qualifiers where they will face the defending champions Ireland, Hong Kong, Jersey, Namibia, Papua New Guinea and the USA in Group A.
Nepal, who made their maiden appearance in the previous World Cup after finishing third in the qualifiers, will open this year’s campaign with a match against the USA on July 10.
Afghanistan, Canada, Kenya, the Netherlands, Oman, Scotland and the UAE are in Group B.
Six qualifiers from the 14-team tournament will join 10 Full Members in the ICC World Twenty20 slated for March 11 to April 3 next year in India.
UAE batting against Nepal in T20I practice match, target 85 runs in 18 overs
KATHMANDU: Nepal have posted a target of 85 runs in 18 wickets to the United Arab Emirates in their second practice match, prior to the ICC T20 International Qualifiers, played at Stormont, Belfast on Tuesday.
Nepal won the toss and chose to bat. They made 84/7 in 18 overs.
Sharad Vesawkar contributed unbeaten 38 runs off 37 to Nepal. He hit two fours and a six. Gyanendra Malla and Pradeep Airee made 13 runs each.
Manjula Guruge claimed three Nepali wickets, while Mohammad Shazad took two.
Likewise, Mohammad Naveed and Amjad Javed sent one Nepali player each back to the pavilion.
