KATHMANDU: Folk-rock band Nepathya is all set to perform in London for the second time.
The popular Nepali band that performed at the Wembley Arena two years ago will perform at O2 Academy Brixton on August 8.
Nepathya, which is preparing for its 10th album, will perform at least four new songs from the album, according to its front man Amrit Gurung.
What is more, one song will be dedicated to the 200-year long Gurkha tradition and Gurkha soldiers serving humanity across the globe.
“I have been hearing this song from my veteran uncles and granduncles since my childhood. It is among many beautiful rendition of our folk culture tinted with the army contingent (lahure) flavour,” he said.

“This song was popular among the Indian Gurkha regiments, but in general it represents the entire lahures…,” he added.
The show is organised and coordinated by the UK-based Elyte Events. O2 Brixton has already listed the show in their calendar and tickets can be purchased online from their site, according to Bijay Gurung of the organising group.
The band will travel to the UK with a 10-member entourage comprising of drummer Dhurba Lama, keyboardist Suraj Thapa, bassist Subin Shakya, Niraj Gurung on lead and Shanti Rayamajhi on madal.
“We were searching for another intimate yet historic venue and this came out as a perfect choice in terms of size and reputation,” said Kiran Krishna Shrestha of Nepalaya, the promoters of Nepathya. “With this performance Nepathya’s name will be included in the Venue’s list of musicians which include – Bob Dylan, Madonna, Iron Maiden, Sex Pistols, UB40.”
