NEPALGUNJ: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said that the new constitution will guarantee that people are the source of power in the country.
Addressing a gathering organised to collect people’s feedback on the preliminary draft of the Constitution of Nepal, here today, he assured to bring a constitution that would guarantee the rights of all Nepalis living in the Tarai, Hills and Mountain regions of the country. “Nobody will be discriminated against, I assure you all that the new constitution will address all kinds of aspirations of people,” he said.
The Prime Minister also said that suspicions over the issue of federalism were baseless and having doubts over the promulgation of the new constitution is only to create confusion. “You should not go after such rumours,” he added.
He expressed the confidence that the country would enter a new phase after promulgation of the new constitution, while calling for the positive and collective efforts of all Nepalis towards that end. “Many people laid down their lives for the cause of democracy and many have suffered a difficult living, and now it is time to work together to take our country towards prosperity. There will no longer be any space for destruction.”
Also speaking at the programme CA member Gaura Prasain expressed the confidence that the people’s feedback would be included in the final draft of the constitution.
