Lokendra Bista to quit UCPN (Maoist)

UCPN (Maoist) Standing Committee member Lokendra Bista is set quit the party to join Netra Bikram Chand 'Biplav' led CPN Maoist.
A source informed Setopati that the Biplav-led Maoist will award him a 'proper post' that accords due respect to Bista's contribution to the communist movement. Bista had submitted a letter to UCPN (Maoist) chairman Dahal a few days ago informing about his decision to quit the party. But Dahal is yet to approve his resignation.
Bista had repeatedly accused the UCPN (Maoist) of straying from its political ideologies and of failing to make proper evaluation of his contributions to the party.
He played an important role in setting up base units during the Maoist conflict. Close to Maoist leader Ram Bahadur Thapa 'Badal', Bista also laid foundation of the 'People's War' in Rolpa and Rukum as part of Sisne-Jaljala campaign. He has spent long periods in prisons in Nepal and India.
