At least 33 confirmed dead in Kaski, Myagdi landslips

POKHARA/KATHMANDU: At least 33 persons were killed in various landslides in Kaski and Myagdi districts on Thursday.
More than 20 persons were reported missing while more than 20 were injured in the incidents in the two districts of west Nepal.
Kaski District Police Office said total 26 persons died in the district including 19 in Lumle, five in Bhadaure Tamagi and two in Dhikurpokhari villages.
Likewise, total seven were killed in Mudi and Muna villages in Myagdi district.
The Pokhara-Baglung Highway blocked by landslides is yet to reopen.
Nepal Police Headquarters in Kathmandu, however, said only 30 deaths were reported in landslides in various districts of the nation including Kaski, Myagdi, Baglung and Chitwan.
Besides incidents of Kaski and Myagdi, police reported death of a 83-year-old man in Rayadanda-9 of Baglung district.
Likewise, in Chitwan, a six-year-old girl died after her house was buried in a landslide in Siddhi-7 of the district.
Police personnel are carrying out rescue operations in the affected sites.
