Patan Museum, considered as one of the best museums in Asia, has been seeing decline in the number of visitors lately after the earthquake.
According to Museum Information Officer Sureshman Lakhe, numbers of people visiting the museum was down to 965 people as compared to previous fiscal year 2013/14.
“The number of people visiting the museum could have remained stable, but it has seen sharp decline after the earthquake,” said Lakhe.
Number of people visiting the museum in fiscal year 2013/14 was recorded at 63,682, including foreigners. But it was down to 62,664 in the fiscal year 2014/15.
Nevertheless, number of foreigners visiting the museum had increased before the earthquake. A total of Rs 400,000 revenue was collected from the foreigners visiting the museum in the fiscal year 2014/15, says Lakhe.
The museum had remained shut for two months following the massive earthquake and opened only from June 19. RSS
