As the memory of Nepathya’s historic performance at the Wembley Arena is still fresh, Nepathya is preparing for its second show in the UK on August 8th. The venue for this performance has been decided at O2 Academy Brixton.
"We were searching for another intimate yet historic venue and this came out as a perfect choice in terms of size and reputation," said Kiran Krishna Shrestha of Nepalaya, the promoters of Nepathya.
"With this performance Nepathya’s name will be included in the Venue’s list of musicians which include – Bob Dylan, Madonna, Iron Maiden, Sex Pistols, UB40," he added. "Other names that have links with the venue are Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, The Police, Wham and Culture Club, among many others."
After Nepathya completes the recording of its 10th album and starts its rehearsal sessions, one song in particular, will be performed in dedication to the Bicentenary long Gurkha tradition.
"I have been hearing this song from my veteran uncles and grand uncles since my childhood. It is among many beautiful rendition of our folk culture tinted with the Army contingent (lahure) flavour," shares Nepathya front man Amrit Gurung. "This song was popular among the Indian Gurkha regiments, but in general it represents the entire Lahure," adds Amrit.
‘Naina taala…. Naina taalaa
Ghumiaayo rela
Ankhamaa laune kalo gajal
Bulbulema tela … Nainataala…
This song will be dedicated to all the Gurkha soldiers who served and are serving Humanity, across the world. Along with this, other songs from Nepathya’s new Album will be an added attraction of the show.
"As we work towards completing the album, we will perform at least 4 new songs during the show," said Amrit.
Latest figures suggest 80,000 Nepalese live in the UK and there are 30,000 British tourists visiting Nepal annually. Britain was the first foreign country to have a representative in Nepal, and the relationship is now reaching 200 years. This show will also be a dedication to the bicentenary celebration of the diplomatic relation between Nepal and Britain.
“We will again reunite in The UK and have fun,” said Amrit. “I am indebted with the love and support the band has been bestowed with by Nepalese all over. We treasure your love,” he added.
The UK show is organized and coordinated by UK based Elyte Events. “O2 Brixton has already listed the show in their calendar (http://www.o2academybrixton.co.uk/event/75675/nepathya-live-in-concert-tickets/Details) and tickets can be purchased online from their site,” said Bijay Gurung of the organizing group. “Let us make this a memorable one,” he appealed.
The Band will travel to the UK with a 10 member entourage and Amrit will be accompanied by his mates – Dhurba Lama on drums, Suraj Thapa on Keyboards, Subin Shakya on Bass, Niraj Gurung on Guitars and Shanti Rayamajhi on Madal.
