KATHMANDU: After holding deliberation on the preliminary draft of new constitution for five days, the Constituent Assembly on Tuesday endorsed a proposal to publish it in the Nepal Gazette and collect people’s feedback subsequently.
The draft was tabled at the CA on July 2 for deliberation. The proposal to publish it in the Gazette was endorsed by the majority votes this evening.
Now, the draft would be taken to the public for their response for 15 days.
Lawmakers of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal, however, had objected to the proposal when CA Chairman presented it before the CA for decision.
Responding to their objection, Nembang said that they better raised their concerns over the draft at the Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee later.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sushil Koirala spoke at the CA. Dubbing the completion of deliberations on the draft as a historic moment, he opined that the new constitution was ensured and none needed to worry about that.
Over 500 lawmakers had taken part in the deliberations for five days.
Likewise, UCPN-Maoist Chairman was stated that the new constitution was certain to come and the political parties gave up their partisan interests to make the CA successful this time.
According to him, anything that has missed in the draft could be included after collecting feedback from the people.
