'Consensus forged' on province demarcations


The meeting between the top leaders of the top four is nearing an end with the leaders finally agreeing on the six provinces along with their delineation, according to a leader present in the meeting.
The leaders are expected to shortly sign on the agreement paper.
Prime Minister and President of Nepali Congress Sushil Koirala and chiefs of three other major parties decided to clinch the deal today without further pushing the settlement of the long-disputed issue of federal demarcations.
Having forged consensus on the issue of federalism, the leaders have now focused discussion on finalizing the issue of citizenship and religion.  
According to the source, the leaders have agreed on the following demarcations of the federal provinces. 
PROVINCES WITH DEMARCATIONS
Province 1: Mechi and Koshi zones and Solukhumbu, Khotang, Udayapur and Okhaldhunga districts of Sagarmatha zone
Province 2: Terai districts from Saptari to Parsa
Provice 3: Bagmati zone and Makwanpur, Chitwan of Narayani zone and Sindhuli, Dolakha and Ramechhape of Janakpur zone
Province 4: Gandaki and Dhaulagiri zones and Daunne region of Nawalparasi district
Province 5: From Daunne of Nawalparashi to Banke and Bardiya districts of Bheri zone, and includes Rapti zone 
Province 6: Mahakali, Karnali, Seti and Bheri zones and hilly districts Jajarkot, Surkhet and Dailekh
Meanwhile, the meeting of Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (CPDCC) is rescheduled for 8 pm to finalize its report while the CA meeting, which was also called at 8 pm, is now set to be postponed.
