Nepal goes down by 37 runs against World XI


Nepal lost its charity match ‘Bat for Nepal’ against World XI by 37 runs at Kinrara Oval in Malaysia on Sunday.
Chasing a modest target of 136 runs, Nepal began well with a slow but steady batting. Its chase soon stuttered through with a stunning spell from Malaysia’s Suresh Navaratnam (3/27) who rolled back the years by taking 3 wickets in his first 2 overs. Nepal was restricted to 98 runs in 19.2 overs.
Mahaboob Alam and Siddhant Lohani tried to rescue Nepal from the rubble but it was already too late. Abdur Razzak and Sanath Jayasuriya bagged two wickets each for World XI.
Earlier, Marcus Stoinis of Australia scored highest 48 runs to help World XI post 135 runs on board while losing all wickets in 19.4 overs.
Avinash Karn, Sharad Vesawkar, Siddhant Lohani and Rajesh Pulami bagged two wickets apiece for Nepal. Shakti Gauchan and and Mehaboob Alam took one wickets each.
The tournament was organized by Malaysia Cricket Association.
