The Ministry of Youth and Sports today honored nine athletes for their outstanding performances in 2014/15.
Sompal Kami (cricket), Bimala Tamang (karate), Gyani Chunara (taekwondo), and Bikram Bahadur Rana and Keshari Chaudhary (athletics) were honored with the 'National Sports Talent Award' at a program organized by the Ministry on the occasion of the International Youth Day.
Also honored on the occasion were Dibesh Shrestha (kickboxing), Binita Budhathoki (volleyball), and Sunil Chaudhary and Prativa Chaudhary (athletics).
Sunil and Prativa were awarded Rs 50,000 each while all others received Rs 100,000.
Likewise, karate coach Sanju Maharjan and badminton coach Rajani Maiya Joshi were also honored with Rs 50,000 each.

The Ministry also feted youth scientist Dr Rajeev Kumar Jha, culture expert Rajan Khatiwada, accomplished climber Susmita Maskey, women rights activist Gomawati Pun, Pradeep Pariyar from youth empowerment, a social campaigner Bhawesh Khanal, litterateur Dr Bindu Sharma and the Nepal Disabled Women Association with the 'National Youth Talent Award'.
