CDC directs sub-committees to submit reports within two days

KATHMANDU, JUN 14 - The Constituent Assembly (CA)'s Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) has directed the five sub-committees under it to prepare draft proposals as per the recent 16-point pact made by four major political parties. The sub-committees have been given two days to complete their respective draft.
The committee meeting on Sunday decided to make the draft proposal through the respective sub committees by June 17 by holding continuous meetings, said lawmaker Ramesh Lekhak.
The 16-point pact submitted by the CA Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee ( PDCC ) has now come to the CDC committee for preparing the draft of the new constitution, after endorsement by the plenary of the CA. The sub committees would prepare the draft as per the report of the PDCC .
The sub-committees have been assigned to finalise other disputed issues that were not addressed by the 16-point pact. The Sub-committees include Legislature Sub-committee under the convenorship of Bharat Mohan Adhikari, Justice Sub-committee under Ramesh Lekhak, Executive Sub-committee under Hitraj Pandey, Preamble Sub-committee under Jitendra Dev and Fundamental Rights sub-committee under Aindra Sundar Nembang.
Lawmaker Lekhak shared that the committee would start the constitution drafting process after receiving the sub-committees' reports. The draft will be carried out either through a taskforce or by following other procedures.
Though the sub-committees had already finalised their reports, the committee directed them to revise it as per the spirit of 16-point pact, lawmaker Rewati Raman Bhandari said.
