Nepal Police on Monday arrested a Chinese national from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA ) in Kathmandu, while she was trying to smuggle US Dollar s to China. Yanhui Hong was caught with US$ 98,500 during the final security check-up at the airport, TIA DIG Bijayalal Kayastha said.
The woman is said to have remained silent after her arrest. She was about board a Sichuwan Airlines flight for Chengdu at 10:15 am. “She pretended as if she did not understand any languages other than Chinese,” said DIG Kayastha, “But she did not speak at all even after we brought a Chinese interpreter.”
According to Hong’s passport, she landed Nepal on May 22 and was returning today. She had earlier visited Nepal on April and returned on the same day of her arrival. The purpose of her visit has not been established yet.
