KATHMANDU, MAY 07 - The obstruction in answer paper assessment caused by the devastating earthquake will delay the results of the School Leaving Certificate examination that concluded on March 28.
The Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE) had planned to publish the results by the first week of June. The quake has affected answer sheet marking mainly in the 11 most affected districts. While over 75 percent of marking has been over in the rest of the districts, work has yet to resume in the areas hit worst by the April 25 Great Earthquake.
According to Exam Controller Bishnu Bahadur Dware, the results will be deferred by at least two weeks—until the third week of June. Despite the destruction in many buildings of District Education Offices and schools, no answer sheets have been misplaced or buried, he said.
A total of 574,685 students, including 145,183 in the exempted category, took the test that began on March 19. The results of technical category will come out in the grading system for the first time. As many as 3,288 students from 99 technical schools have appeared for the SLC exams.
