Police fire shots in the air, tear gas to contain protesters

Police fired shots in the air and tear gas shells to contain the situation after protests by Nepal Sadbhawana Party (NSP) cadres intensified in Gaur municipality.
The protestors have staged a sit-in in front of the municipality hall alleging CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal of allowing only a select group to participate in the public deliberation on the draft in his constituency in Rautahat district.
Right after the program began, the NSP cadres tried to manhandle CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal accusing Nepal of barring NSP cadres and the party's leader Anil Jha of entering discussion hall and allowing only selected group to participate in the discussions. The cadres began sloganeering and threw chairs towards Nepal alleging him of organizing the deliberation amid tight security.
Police said some sustained injuries in the tussle.
Nepal and other lawmakers have been kept inside a tight security. A large group of security personnel have been mobilized around the meeting venue after the incident.
