UCPN (Maoist) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that India has assured to end the border rows with Nepal upon his arrival.
UCPN (Maoist) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Monday said the Government of India has pledged to end the border rows and disputes between the two immediate neighbors upon his return to Nepal after a weeklong visit to India.
Speaking at a press conference at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) after landing in Nepal, Dahal said that he was given assurance by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj towards ending the border related disputes at different border points, including Kalapani, Susta and Lipulekh, among others.
“Special concerns have been expressed from the side of Indian government when I raised the issues with reference to the sentiments of Nepali people. The two countries have critical border issues to be resolved. They (Indian leaders) have given assurances to resolve the problems based on the historical facts and evidences,” said Dahal.
He said his meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister was focused on border related issues in particular.
Additionally, Dahal said that the other important issues discussed in detail were ways of reducing Nepal’s huge trade deficit with the southern neighbor.
Dahal further said that the Indian President, Indian government, political parties and intellectuals hailed the Nepal’s progress in constitution writing. RSS
